Alisa & Kim
Alisa and Kim are life-loving, small-time adventurers recently in a whirlwind of new experiences. Kim is an international chef and Alisa is an art teacher and professional photographer. We enjoy getting lost on road trips, going in search for new food concoctions, wandering farmers markets, spending sleepy weekends in our PJs, and laughing evenings away in the kitchen baking and cooking. We were married on a perfect drizzly day in May 2014 in Jefferson, Maine surrounded by our family and friends.
Our wanderlust has been growing stronger over the past years and we knew it was time to feed it. In July of 2014 we left life as we knew it when we moved from Maine, USA to Yangon, Myanmar to teach, eat, and travel for three years. Recently we moved again to find ourself in Istanbul, Turkey. Alisa is a Middle School Art teacher at the MEF International School and Kim cooks and explores. This blog is a combination of our experiences in Myanmar, Istanbul, and the travel that has ensued. So far we have completed art scavenger hunts in Penang, Malaysia, sled down the sand dunes of Mui Ne, Vietnam, explored the ancient temples of Angkor Wat, Cambodia, ate our way through the night markets of Bangkok, Thailand, floated through the water village of Inle Lake, Myanmar, safaried through Tanzania, Africa, climbed the active Indonesian volcano, Mt. Bromo, spent weeks motorbiking around the island of Bali, Indonesia, rode atop jeepnees in Sagada, Phillipines, released sky lanterns to celebrate the Yee Ping festival in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and so SO much more. Luckily our adventures are just beginning. |
